What are the symptoms of a bad starter? The engine won’t turn over. The most common signal that your starter has a problem is if nothing happens when you turn the key or push to start. Unusual noises, such as clinking, grinding and whirring. Intermittent problems starting the car. Smoke coming from under the hood.
Figure 8 Now you can separate the front and rear sections of the driveshaft. Peel back the sealing boot (green arrow), then mark (yellow arrows) the orientation of the front and rear driveshaft. This will help with reassembly. Once marked, pull the driveshaft apart to separate. Figure 9 The center bearing can be replaced now.

I have the Haynes manual (which is just short of expensive fire starter paper) and it is saying that the ball joint torque setting is 122 ft lbs. This seems insanely high!

However a burning oil smell may or may not be related, I don't believe any of the CCV hoses which may have failed are near exhaust components.
Hello! I have a 2006 325i with 111000 miles on it. It is well maintained, and just replaced engine oil (that came out clear, not milky), spark plugs and ignition coils 2000 miles ago.
A decent indication of a failing water pump is that your fan will kick on high on start up and remain on high throughout the drive, as well as after shutting the car off. It will sound like the fan is screaming. The tstat is designed to fail open so an overheat condition is minimized.
those bimmerworld engine mounts are based off BMW's own Group N engine mounts. i have the genuine deal in my M3. i have been a proponent of these for non-M cars and M3. i have recently been a little less suggesting of these for non-Ms only because the M3 engine is heavier than the M52/M54 and might be too harsh or make engine sit higher.
2010 BMW M3 E92. Jan 29, 2020. #7. Stock original mounts go at 25-30 kms. Mine were absolutely shot at 25. I heard the OEM ones don't even last that long. I upgraded to Vibra-Technics ones which last a whole lot longer. Powerflex also makes tune-able mounts.
When my motor mounts were bad, if I got on the throttle hard in first and then clutched in I would get a noticeable clunk. I can't promise the motor mounts fixed it though because I renovated my front end at the same time to do away with the shimmy. Could very well have been suspension-related.
Knowing the causes of ignition coil failure will help you to detect when an issue has occurred. The common causes of failure are as follows: Defective Voltage Supply. This type of failure tends to be caused by either an overload or excessive wear upon the ignition control unit. It can also be caused by faulty wiring and battery weakness.
One of the most common causes is wear and tear over time. The strut mount is subject to constant stress and strain as the vehicle is driven, and eventually, it can become worn or damaged, leading to increased noise, vibration, and handling issues. Another common cause of strut mount issues on a BMW E90 is exposure to the elements.
